6 de jul de 2023
The FAU Board of Trustees has agreed to suspend the presidential search and the university has canceled the candidate forums planned for July 10, 12 and 13.
A version of this story previously ran in the University Press, a student news organization covering Florida Atlantic University.
FAU sent out an email on Thursday afternoon announcing a series of public forums featuring the finalists for the university’s presidency scheduled for the upcoming week, which has since been canceled.
Scheduled for July 10, 12, and 13, the meetings would have showcased the three presidential candidates and their visions before they interviewed with the Board of Trustees, the governing board of the university.
On July 7, State University System of Florida Chancellor Ray Rodrigues sent a letter to FAU Board of Trustees Chair Brad Levine asking to suspend the presidential search, citing violations of Florida Statutes.
In response to this letter, Levine agreed to suspend the search, FAU announced via email on July 8.
“As such, the candidate’s campus visits and open forums scheduled for next week are cancelled,” the email says.
The FAU presidential search is suspended until further notice.
